Samuel is a BAFTA and Webby nominated filmmaker who has directed across drama, documentary and commercials.

After a Fine Art degree at Chelsea, Samuel started out in TV, self-shooting award-winning observational documentaries. He moved into drama following a commission to co-write and direct 'Hung Out' for Channel 4's Comedy Lab. His first dramatic short, CONNECT, was nominated for a BAFTA and won the Jury Award at Brief Encounters. His follow-up, HOLD ON ME, premiered at BFI LFF, won Best Short at London Independent FF, and was nominated for its 35mm cinematography by Fujifilm Shorts. Both shorts were picked up for distribution by Shorts International and have been inducted into the BFI's National Archive.

His third short, OFFLINE DATING, was released online, receiving over 10 million views and sparking an international press and social media debate about the effects of technology on dating. Featured in The Guardian, Huffington Post and USA Today, OFFLINE DATING had its theatrical premiere at the BFI LFF, was nominated for a Webby and won a Lovies Award.

Samuel has directed commercials for brands including British Airways, Heinz Beans, Sony and Match.com, and is currently in development to direct his first feature, YESTERDAY TOMORROW TODAY. The script came 3rd on the Brit List 2018, which celebrates the best unproduced British screenplays of the year, voted by the industry.
